32-Bit CPU Benchmarks: SYSMark 2004

SYSmark 2004 is BAPCo's latest revision of the mainstream office productivity and Internet content creation benchmark used to characterize the performance of the business client. It is based on a foundation of extensive research into emerging usage models and computing trends and incorporates the latest benchmarking methodologies to evaluate platform technologies. SYSmark 2004 contains scientifically designed workloads that represent the range of activities that an office productivity or Internet content creation work may encounter. In addition to extensive validation across multiple platforms, users can be sure of a consistent and reliable performance comparison.

In the content creation portion of Sysmark 2005 the Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 performs slightly faster than the previous Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 processor. It's quite a bit quicker than AMD's Athlon64 X2/FX series though... and to top things off it's also less expensive. As the results indicate here, DDR3 does not equate to immediate performance benefits. The Web Publication component is the only test to see a benefit from DDR3, for all other tests the Intel P35 Express with DDR2 memory leads the pack of the three platforms the E6750 was tested with.
