DX10 Videocard Benchmarks: Crysis, Call of Juaraz

Crysis 1.2

Source: Electronic Arts

Crysis is a science fiction first-person shooter developed by Crytek. Crysis uses Microsoft's new API, DirectX 10 for graphics rendering, and includes the new engine—the CryEngine 2—that is the successor to Far Cry's CryEngine. CryEngine 2 is among the first engines to use the DirectX 10 framework of Windows Vista, but can also run using DirectX 9, both on Vista and Windows XP.

Crysis is a videocard killer, and true enough the game is just playable with the Palit HD4870X2 at 1920x1200 on the ASUS MK241 24" gaming LCD - ahhh wide screen gaming, could there be anything better? To be fair, all videocards struggle at these resolutions.

Call of Juarez

Source: Techland

While Call of Juarez pulls off all the classic FPS mechanisms with aplomb, it also features interesting variations that give it the air and feel of a true Western movie. The player has the genuine impression of being a pistol-packing hero in an age when armed confrontation was the daily grind for many adventurers. The Developers have incorporated a classic shooting system as well as two extra game modes.
