AquaMark3 Source: Massive Development

AquaMark3 is a powerful tool to determine reliable information about the gaming performance of computer systems. Because the benchmark extensively utilizes DirectX9, DirectX8 and DirectX7 functionality, it represents the requirements of typical gaming applications in 2003 and 2004.

SLI again provides a huge boost. It's starting to look like this technology is for real... nVidia based cards usually do well on this benchmark, but you have to like what we're starting to see here. The 6600GT cards all provide excellent performance for the money here.

Gun Metal 2 Source: Yeti Studio

Gun Metal 2 is one of the first benchmarks to take full advantage of DirectX 9 technology. According to Gun Metal 2, 2x AA is enabled by default on all videocards and the listed frame rates are average.

As we said above, SLI requires a profile in the Detonator drivers for each game. We're fairly sure that our driver set did not have one for Gunmetal 2, as this benchmark gained absolutely nothing from SLI operation. If no profile exists, SLI reverts to single-GPU mode, and as you can see, our results reflect this. Due to its faster memory, the Gigabyte GV-3D1 managed to come out on top again. All the Geforce 6600GT chips clearly outperform the Radeon X700 Pro in this test, as do the tweaked 6600 cores of the Albatron 6600U and the ASUS Extreme.
